During the process of buying a new home, you’ll meet with a home inspector. The Home Inspection is an important and required step and helps point out problems that will have to be addressed before you can close.
- Attic and basement
- Roof, walls, ceilings and floors
- Windows and doors
- Major appliances such as cooktop, oven and refrigerator
- HVAC and heating system
- Electrical system and plumbing
Be aware that inspectors do not look for problems like mold, asbestos or hidden pest infestations. And, if the home being inspected has any inaccessible features such as a septic tanks or conditions behind walls, those items may have to have a separate evaluation before you close. Your realtor can definitely guide you through this important step. Pools are typically not included either.
